A while back my friend Liz was in need of a bunch of money, and she told me about this thing called AccountNow. She has a credit card with them, and she told me that if you sign up with them, they give her $20. Well, I decided it would be a good idea to help her, and so I signed up for one. However, neither of us had any idea of what we were in for. She ended up getting a new card from them, and they still charged them for it. As if that wasn't bad enough, they charged her to call them. To call their number they apparently charge a hidden fee for that. There was also another charge they issued her, and she couldn't even figure out what it was for. So, she opted out of her card and now I'm trying to do the same, but I couldn't figure it out. They don't make it easy to cancel your account. And to make matters worse, their customer service is downright horrible! I asked them how I close my account, and they didn't even respond to my message. So, I tried sending an email asking them to do it, and it simply said they had a problem sending it.
In conclusion, you do NOT want to deal with these people, they are only out for your money, and they will try to make sure you can't opt out of their service. Do NOT trust them, you're better off getting a checking account at a local bank and getting a credit/debit card with them so you won't have to pay any fees. Me and Liz learned this the hard way.

I opened a Accountnow card in 2009 and used it for a while with no severe problems for a few months. I also signed up for SSD after 3 years of trying to get disiablity I finally recieved it forgetting about the Direct Deposit I signed up with Accountnow. so what happenes I finally get a check after waiting 3 years deposited and was notified by text alert that my account had recieved my direct deposit and funds would be available the net day. When I went to draw out money to tranfer to my banking account it said my account had been restricted and could not use my money until verified. I called them while my husband was in surgery to ask what the problem was and they said I needed to verifey who I was by sending DL SS card and proff of Address faxed to them. I then went to Motel copied and faxed after I had sent all that in 3 years before and then they told me it could take 7 to 10 buisness days to review to see if they could release my account. I explained I was out of town husband in surgery no money for gas to get home 100 miles away but all they could do was write a note. I finally got husband out of surgery had to go to a friend in Boise borrow her Credit Card to get gas home since all my money went to Motel bill. Now I am home and they say risk Management does not have a direct line to call, well that is a bunch of BS because they keep sending me to that number which said the office was closed because it was after 5 Pacific time which was funny it was 2 Mountain time. So sitting at home no money still holding my Social Security check for review. ACCOUNT NOW SUCKS DON'T USE IT IF YOU NEED YOUR MONEY why do they do crap like that to old people?
ReplyDelete@Cindy it isn't just older people, they give EVERYONE the runaround! I'm 26 years old, and I have problems with them, too. The problem is they charge you a certain amount of money in order to keep the card, but you can waive that fee if you're employed. I had the U.S. Census Bureau direct deposit my money into my accountnow account so they wouldn't charge me, but it was only a temporary job. I had to use some of the money to bail my friend out of jail, but that's a whole different can of worms...
ReplyDeleteSo now, they're probably STILL charging my card, but I can't be bothered to check it out any longer. I'm probably going to get the runaround again if I try to opt out. It sucks, it seriously does... Well, if what she told me is right, if I just don't use it they'll send the money back once it expires next year.
